Cool Announcement!

Once upon a time, I had an idea for a book. I loved the premise. The thing about it is, the book is a little different than what I usually write. To me, it feels like a true coming of age story (don't worry, there is a boy and I love him). The young girl has a lot she's dealing with and she's pretty lost in the beginning of the book, but I love her growth. I love her story, but man was it hard to write. I wrote some, knew it wasn't right and put it away. A couple months later, I picked it up again and wrote more on it, but I still knew I was missing something. It KILLED me because you guys know me. I'm usually a fast writer and I've never struggled with making a story come together like I did with this one.

So I sent it to a couple friends. They read it and loved the premise too, but agreed something was missing. I just hadn't nailed it yet.

We brainstormed and I couldn't stop thinking of the story for days, but then...I thought I figured it out!! THIS WAS IT, right? I wrote notes on my new thoughts. I outlined it and started a new document and copied and pasted different scenes together and then added in between (I've never written like that either!).

But then...I needed a break so I put it aside again. It was a hard decision because I feel for my main character and her story. The boy is sweet, cute and fun, but even though my heart was in it, my head wasn't. There is something to be said for not rushing. For setting books aside even for months because either you need it, or because it's the right thing to do for the book. I know I get that, now, now now mentality and it's not always smart. Some books it may work with and others it doesn't.

All in all it's been about a year and a half (maybe a bit less) since I started this book. At the beginning of this year, I decided it was time to pick it up again. I had already written half the book so I just needed to find the right words for the second half. I think it's important to write books that are a little different for you sometimes. There's a different kind of growth you get as a writer and I want to soak in all I can.

So I wrote it.

Sent to beta readers.

Tweaked it.

Sent it to my agent the ROCKSTAR, FABULOUS, Jane Dystel who sent it to my editor at Entangled Publishing, the ROCKSTAR, FABULOUS Stacy Abrams.

Guess what???

SHE BOUGHT IT!! All that work paid off. SEARCHING FOR BEAUTIFUL will be release early 2014 from Entangled Publishing. I hope you guys will love this story as much as I do.
