OUT OF PLAY out now! Meet Bishop!

OUT OF PLAY is finally here! Jolene and I had so much fun writing this book. I laughed harder than I probably have writing anything else and I'm SO glad its out in the wild!!!

To celebrate release day, Bishop is stopping by my blog to talk about the things he knows about Penny. Be sure to check out Jolene's BLOG where Penny will be talking about Bishop as well. So... here you go. From Burn, the one and only Bishop Riley.

What's up? I'm Bishop Ripe... shit, I mean Bishop Riley. I forgot, I don't have to be undercover right now. This screwy Alaska air is getting to me. Why the hell people choose to live here, I'll never figure out. LA or Alaska? It's not like that's a tough question. Unfortunately my mom and manager don't agree. They sent me here with a babysitter named Gary who seems to think it's a good idea to take walks in the middle of an Alaskan winter. I should be in LA with my band and playing my drums instead of freezing my balls off here.

I don't know what Penny loves so much about it. She's the chick who lives next door. Her mom owns the place or something. Anyway, this girl no joke. I'm pretty sure Seldon Alaska wouldn't exist without her. I mean, she's gorgeous. I get it. She has this almost white-blond hair and a killer body. She's hot without trying, which I don't see a lot of back home.

I've seen her come and go a bit. She's always peeling out in her big-ass truck, hauling hockey stuff around. She's good. That part is obvious. She plays for the guys team. It's pretty hot to watch her play. She kicks all the guys' asses out there. Oh, and she has a gorgeous Corvette. Incredible car. I've never really known a girl who liked cars like her before. I won't tell her this but she has good taste. Sometimes I wonder if she'd like the Ranchero I have back home. I mean, not that I care. She's already got half the guys in town in love with her. It's not like I plan on becoming another one of them. She's good with her gramps though. He's probably the coolest old guy in the world. You can she loves him. I think it's pretty cool that she's close with him like that. I've never really known anyone who worked on cars with their gramps before, especially a girl. If she would have heard me add that last part, I would've caught hell for it. "Especially for a girl" and "Penny" don't mix. I'm not trying to sound sexist or anything. I'm pretty sure she's different than anyone I've never met, not just the women. I like that about her. She's tough...strong. She doesn't let anyone tell her what's she's supposed to be. Gotta have respect for that, ya know? I've known way too many fake people not to give her props for that.

Dude. I have no idea where all that came from. I don't even know what I'm supposed to be doing here or why Nyrae and Jolene wanted me to talk.

*looks at Nyrae*

"What the hell am I supposed to talk about? You never told me."

Nyrae smiles. "Don't even worry about it Bishop. You're good. You already did it."

*Bishop shrugs* "Whatever. I'm out then. Cat'cha later."

I hope you guys enjoyed Bishop. He's a handful, let me tell you. I love his journey though. Penny is absolutely perfect for him and she's my all time favorite YA female character. She's strong, smart, tough and doesn't take crap from anyone. What's not to love?

I was so excited about release day I stalked my local Barnes and Noble stores last night and look what I found on the shelves!

Rock star drummer Bishop Riley doesn't have a drug problem. Celebrities—especially ones suffering from anxiety—just need a little help taking the edge off sometimes. After downing a few too many pills, Bishop wakes up in the hospital facing an intervention. If he wants to stay in the band, he’ll have to detox while under house arrest in Seldon, Alaska.

Hockey player Penny Jones can't imagine a life outside of Seldon. Though she has tons of scholarship offers to all the best schools, the last thing she wants is to leave. Who'll take care of her absentminded gramps? Not her mother, who can’t even be bothered to come home from work, let alone deal with their new tenants next door. Penny’s not interested in dealing with Bishop’s crappy attitude, and Bishop’s too busy sneaking pills to care. Until he starts hanging out with Gramps and begins to see what he’s been missing. If Bishop wants a chance with the fiery girl next door, he’ll have to admit he has a problem and kick it. Too bad addiction is hard to kick…and Bishop’s about to run out of time.

  3. Your interpretation of Bishop as great. I feel like I know him already. Bought the book after 3:00 in the morning for my kindle so I'm one of your early buyers. *Grins* Love that you went looking for your book in the bookstore. I hope to do that someday. Congrats Nyrae. Oh and I bought a copy of Charade over the weekend since I have an e-galley of Facade.
