I have news!

I've been talking about a book I've been working on for a while but haven't really given you guys a ton of information on it. That changes today! :)

Let's start with a visual. I've been working with artist Sarah Jo Chreene. Check out her Facebook page. She is awesome. She drew an INCREDIBLE image to represent my characters. All the love interests aren't on this but some of them are. This is the core group of friends from my upcoming series. Yes, you got the right. Series!

Meet Shane, Drea, Ryder, Cody and Tanner...

We had so much fun with this. It IS my people. If you click on the picture to make it larger you can see more detail--all the characters have various piercings (you guys know I love those!) and Sarah was able to put them all in for me!

I am so excited for this series for a few reasons. First--the characters. They are awesome. I love them all. It's also a return to YA for me. I haven't released a YA in a long time and it has been such a wonderful experience. I loved spending time with this crew.

As you can tell the cast is diverse (yay for diversity!). Drea is half-black and we have characters with different backgrounds and sexualities. It's everything I love about...well about life and the world we live in.

Here's the blurb for the first book, THE WEIGHT OF DESTINY. (subject to change)

When your namesake is known for drowning herself by walking into a river with a pocket full of rocks, and the other women in your family aren't exactly “all there,” a girl kind of wants to avoid tempting fate at all costs. For Virginia Nichols, the only way to dodge that bullet is to be perfect at everything: school, student council, life. Too bad it’s all a lie and underneath the perfection...Virginia is lost.

Ryder Blackstock knows a thing or two about being born into fate. The talents passed down from his father aren't exactly normal; instead of learning how to throw a fastball, he was taught to hot-wire a car like a pro and pick any pocket in sight. He’s got criminal blood, just like his old man. And as soon as he turns eighteen, he’ll be living life on the run with his dad.

When Ryder and Virginia meet on the beach, it seems they couldn't be more different. Soon, they discover they’re both trapped in their lives—Virginia denying her fate, Ryder embracing his. The weight of their destinies is like the rocks in their pockets, pulling them under. But being together brings out pieces of themselves they didn't know existed—pieces that make them want to take fate into their own hands and rewrite their destinies...if it isn’t too late.

THE WEIGHT OF DESTINY releases November 2014! Keep an eye out for the cover reveal, first chapter and preorder link coming soon.
